Been watching lot of anime lately and for this season, this particular anime caught my attention. I was aware of the manga and how it was always top 10 bestseller charts in multiple bookstores both local and online but I was already occupied with many other mangas so I kept pushing it off. After watching the first episode though I immediately got hooked and craved for more. Unfortunately only 4 episodes have been aired so far. The manga has skyrocketed to the top of my need-to-read list so I'll have to spoil myself binge reading all the available chapters online!
To those who haven't heard of "Tokyo Ghoul" here is the general plot description from wikipedia:
"The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who receives organ donations from a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh, after he is critically injured. He must deal with life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans"
It's really refreshing to see horror/gore - genre anime that have great character development, interesting story, and is actually really cool all at the same time! A nice change from mechas, magical loli girls, or mindless action/battle genres. The opening and ending song are both great with nice visual also!
If you want to check out the anime, there are 3 episodes available now on Hulu, or if you want to read the series, there are 12 volumes out in Japanese, or you can find the English version online ...somewhere XD
